Europe Hero Image

FedEx began intercontinental service to Europe in 1984. This was followed by the opening of our primary air hub in 1999 at Roissy Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) in Paris. Since then, FedEx has significantly expanded and improved our European network, now serving more than 45 countries across the continent.

In 2016, we added a second air hub at Liège Airport in Belgium that further expanded critical connections between European markets and the world. We’re continuing to optimize our network in Europe. In 2023, we installed innovative sorting equipment at our Stuttgart, Germany facility to enhance package handling speed, opened a new ground operations center in Gdansk, Poland, and completed major road hubs in the Netherlands and Italy to further improve intra-European shipments and support economic activity across the continent.

FedEx in The Netherlands

With our European headquarters located in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands is a critical location for FedEx on the European continent. Currently, The Netherlands is home to over 3,100 team members across more than 30 facilities.

FedEx in France

Opened in 1999, the FedEx hub at Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) in Paris is now our largest hub outside of the U.S., providing vital air connections between Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia. In 2016, we expanded operations to include the first automated sorting system for large, over-sized packages to meet the ever-increasing demands of e-commerce growth.

This strategic expansion in Paris is a prime example of how we are moving goods faster and more reliably across borders, enabling our customers to decrease costs, improve their supply chain, and identify new opportunities for growth and profitability.

FedEx in Italy

FedEx strengthened our operations in Italy with the opening of a new road hub in Novara in 2023. Located in the heart of the European road system and with easy access to the primary FedEx air gateway at Malpensa Airport, the Novara hub is ideally positioned to serve the vital economic regions in the Mediterranean Basin.

Our state-of-the-art Novara facility features separate freight and package buildings with the capacity to sort and handle 21,600 small parcels, 8,000 documents, and 4,000 shipments of heavy and bulky items per hour. The facility is also certified at the LEED Gold level, reflecting our company’s commitment to sustainability.
