Description: Formulates and applies sophisticated modeling and other advanced analytic methods using a computer to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions. Collects, cleanses, and analyzes data to develop decision support software and produce actionable information for decision making. Identifies business opportunities or expands ideas obtained from management in order to conceptualize and defines and models operational problems to assess feasibility and impact. Identifies performance improvement opportunities via data analysis and develops decision support tools to ensure most cost conscience and efficient use of company resources that supports service objectives. Develops concepts into business plans utilizing appropriate research techniques, methodologies, and experience and presents them to senior management with recommendation for implementation. Develops and implements data collection systems from primary and secondary sources and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality. Identifies, analyzes, interprets, and visualizes trends or patterns in complex data sets. Evaluates alternative systems or transportation networks employing financial, computer, geographic or operational models as appropriate. Researches cutting edge technologies in support of the “best practices” in any transportation or network related question. Provides project support or individually designs and develops models for testing, validation and evaluation of strategic proposals. Utilizes multi-media presentations and formal reports for presenting analyses to senior management.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline and Five (5) years of experience in the position offered or in engineering, statistics, forecasting, or data analysis. Employer will accept one (1) year of directly related experience in lieu of one (1) year of education. Employer will also accept a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline and Three (3) years in the position offered or in engineering, statistics, forecasting, or data analysis. Three (3) years' experience in: JAVA, SQL, or SAS; and relational database systems Oracle, DB2, Terradata. Two (2) years' experience in: statistical software and reporting interfaces, data mining tools. One (1) year's experience in: data visualization; and machine learning techniques.
