Job Description

Responsible for supporting improved customer experience, business processes, and overall operational performance within the FedEx Freight segment through successful leadership, development, and communication of business strategy and the OpCo strategic processes. Lead strategic efforts within Freight and ensure that QDM and PSP are both embedded into our strategic approach. Ensure that our strategic process supports full sustainability of these efforts in the Freight Segment. An agile leader that prioritizes work, coordinates and develops roadmaps that reflect Freight Executive Leadership’s strategic priorities and coordinates / manages complex initiatives, often across Operating Companies.

1. Select, develop and motivate staff members, including coaching, and employee engagement
2. Support Sr. Leadership in providing vision, future direction, product development, agile transformation, and administration of strategic plans and initiatives
3. Maintain stewardship over strategic objectives by developing and leading annual strategy program assessment and performance measurement system assessments with associated goal setting requirements
4. Manage appropriate reporting and communication on strategic objectives to ensure that key initiatives are fully supported through tactical plans and operational execution
5. Partner with Freight Financial Planning & Analysis to maintain fiscal oversight and provide appropriate reporting of strategic initiative performance to financial targets
6. Work collaboratively with other functions and disciplines to provide appropriate subject matter expertise on business capabilities and performance measurement systems to continuously identify process improvement opportunities
7. Lead diverse groups of people across functional areas and operating companies on strategic projects and corporate initiatives as assigned ensuring objectives of assigned projects are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters using QDM structure
8. Prioritize the development of product features based on strategic business cases, capacity and demand
9. Negotiate and influence process improvement plans as aligned with business strategy
10. Build and maintain solid relationships with management and business process owners throughout Freight and the FedEx enterprise
11. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
12. Perform other duties as required

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Research, Math / Statistics, or equivalent work experience plus at least five (5) years’ experience in strategic planning, strategic program development, business analytics, and market trend assessment, working with related functional support departments, and Operations, MBA preferred, Transportation industry experience preferred
Proven ability in program management and in resolving complex issues
In depth knowledge of the transportation industry with knowledge of FedEx systems and processes preferred
Strong analytical, problem solving, training, and leadership skills
Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills with ability to multi-task
Strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint) with a preference for capabilities with statistical software and reporting interfaces such as SAS, Minitab, and Business Objects
Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to diverse levels of employees including Executive Leadership
