Job Description


Manage, lead, plan and direct a staff of safety managers and safety professionals ensuring a safe work environment for all employees; Ensure implementation and compliance of a comprehensive safety program


1. Select, lead, train, develop and motivate a staff of safety professionals
2. Develop, administer and evaluate procedures used by safety professional ensuring safety of operations and employees
3. Plan and monitor safety policies and programs ensuring all meet or exceed regulatory requirements
4. Ensure safety and federally administered compliance regulations are enforced
5. Work closely with field leadership and Audit teams to ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures and that items/processes evaluated are meaningful and focused on regulatory compliance and loss prevention
6. Assist in establishing company safety goals, objectives and priorities
7. Develop and oversee safety initiatives and programs to reduce costs
8. Analyze data to determine risks and severity of risks
9. Collect, investigate, review and monitor all driver accidents to identify significant facts and trends in order to recommend actions and solutions for addressing and/or resolving identified trends
10. Answer questions on company policy, regulations and compliance
11. Direct and propose safety educational material for all employees
12. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
13. Perform other duties as required

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience plus seven (7) years of experience in a safety related function in transportation, which includes three (3) years of management experience in safety regulations and compliance.
Solid leadership, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
Expert knowledge of Department of Transportation, OSHA and governmental regulations (federal, state and city) concerning safety/compliance
Strong problem solving and decision making skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Strong verbal and written communication skills


Must be able to travel
