Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for field safety compliance and for supporting the on-going relationships with contractors and vendors

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform accident/incident/near miss investigations, determine root cause and make recommendations to Operations
2. Perform Hazmat incident/accident investigations and ensure government related reporting is completed
3. Act as company Health & Safety Officer and remain current on all related federal and provincial requirements, as well as submit all government reporting (LAB reports, EAHOR, etc)
4. Attend all H&S Committee meetings each month (in person or via conference call), review meeting minutes for compliance and ensure all raised issues are addressed and closed in a timely manner
5. Conduct service centre (dock/office) and yard inspection audits, as well as the semi-annual service centre facility inspections and report findings to management
6. Act as local contractor relations liaison by maintaining relationships with contractors and assisting with onboarding and licensing
7. Inspect all FXFC assets for maintenance compliance and supporting relationship with vendors
8. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
9. Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma, required; Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years directly related work experience
• Five (5) years transportation fleet safety or occupational health and safety, required
• Bilingual (English/French), preferred
• Occupational Health & Safety certification, preferred
• Knowledge of LTL industry
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities, including excellent attention to detail
• Excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to multitask
• Excellent spelling, punctuation and basic English grammar skills
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Excellent computer skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Internet and Outlook)


WORKING CONDITIONS:
70% travel (25% overnight)
