Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:


Responsible for processing FedEx Freight Canada Payroll, timekeeping support, and payroll-related accounting/remittances.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Review, analyze and verify payroll reports and documents for accuracy; post journal entries and make necessary adjustments or corrections as required through established procedures
2. Ensure the accurate processing of regular payroll, incentive payouts, all interim checks, audit reports, data uploads, year-end activities, tax forms and payroll impacting changes
3. Liaise with internal and external customer including government bodies and management
4. Reconciliation of general ledger accounts
5. Review and process employee expense reports
6. Administration of DCPP, RRSP and TFSA deductions and remittances
7. Acceptance test and approve payroll system updates (including tax/deduction updates)
8. Participate in annual outside accounting audits and internal audits upon request
9. Participate in annual budgeting process, including monitoring costs to budget
10. Provide assistance with payroll related issues and questions from various areas within the organization
11. Serve as point of contact for timekeeping application support; maintain system security
12. Identify and resolve functional and technical issues; work in collaboration with end users, vendors, other analysts and programmers/IT in the design process and system functionality
13. Perform analysis to investigate variances from expected outcomes
14. Develop and maintain in-depth understanding of payroll/timekeeping products and evaluate existing functionality as new versions are released
15. Develop and recommend process and procedure enhancements; evaluate new processes/procedures and document overall impact results
16. Work with various Project Teams; participate in research, planning, design, analysis, testing and implementation of applications of system upgrades and / or new timekeeping related modules; identify program problems and develop solutions
17. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
18. Perform other assignments (or duties) as required

QUALIFICATIONS:


• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance or four (4) years related work experience
• Four (4) years payroll/time keeping experience, required
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation, preferred
• Timekeeping system experience, preferred
• Bilingual (English/French), an asset
• Knowledge of accounting best practices, preferred
• Ability to work independently and as a team member and take initiative in fast paced work environment
• Able to exercise sound judgment and problem solving adhering to deadlines and resource constraints
• Strong analytical, process analysis and planning skills
• Good time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Must be detail oriented
• Experience and ability to use Microsoft Office Software, including but not limited to; Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Good verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact with all levels within the organization

• Occasional domestic/US travel may be required for training
