Job Description

Plan, direct and control region activities to ensure timely and cost-effective accomplishment of regional and company goals and objectives. Work in collaboration with internal departments to identify strategic initiatives for improving service, reducing costs and preparing FXFC for future growth

1. Recruit, train develop and lead employees to ensure a motivated management team while maintaining a People First philosophy; build a strong bench for future leadership positions
2. Develop, establish and coordinate service center objectives and priorities of tactical plans to attain optimum usage of assigned resources
3. Communicate and model company values and objectives to all employees directly and through management members
4. Communicate with other functional areas to ensure proper tools are available to support the needs of customers and employees; ensure proper equipment, facility and educational needs are met throughout the region
5. Attain operational efficiency and reduce costs by effectively analyzing and reviewing work processes and directing the activities of key employees, in addition to investigating service failures where required
6. Provide assistance in identifying specific marketing opportunities and continually gather information from Sales and Operations to collaborate and develop long term strategies for growth and profitability
7. Review revenue growth levels to ensure long and short range planning is accomplished and analyze service production and/or claims performance to ensure our customers’ expectations are achieved
8. Analyze staffing needs to control cost and maintain adequate staffing to provide the ultimate customer experience
9. Review safety performance reports to ensure employees are provided with a clean, safe working environment and that our safety goals are achieved
10. Develop and/or assist in the development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable laws/regulations, to enhance the customer experience, and to provide consistency for all areas of responsibility
11. Review, monitor and manage human resources actions, including but not limited to labour relations issues and equity of human resources processes
12. Represent region in corporate activities; provide input or assistance as requested by TGO leadership; assist other regional managers across the company
13. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
14. Perform other duties as required

• High School diploma, required; Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years directly related work experience
• Ten (10) years in transportation, and seven (7) years leadership experience
• Must continue to develop sales knowledge and practical application; LTL transportation sales experience, preferred
• Strategic planning capabilities to develop short and long term business improvement plans
• Ability to create budgets and track expenditures to project future needs of the company and region
• Must possess negotiating skills
• Must be multi-tasked oriented and possess excellent time management and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (documentation, interaction with all levels in the organization, etc.)
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office)
• Thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures, preferred
• Thorough knowledge of safety regulations; Operations/Line Haul environment regulations
• Must have knowledge of labor laws and regulations

• Must be able to travel as needed
