The purpose of this position is to process complex trade and non-trade invoices, expenses, adjustments, and payments to vendors, suppliers, and governmental agencies in an accurate and timely manner. The position will interface with operations, other finance personnel, suppliers, vendors, and others in order to research and resolve billing payment issues and ensure proper accounting treatment.
Audits and pays customs and border protection (CBP) duty and taxes for the duplex system via abi transmission system in accordance with regulatory requirements and confirms acceptance by CBP to ensure timeliness and accuracy and prevent penalties. Processes trade and non-trade invoices, rent, and other payment requests, including travel & entertainment reimbursement requests, in accordance with FTN policies, ensuring timeliness of payment while maximizing credit terms with suppliers/vendors. Reviews and validates general ledger account assignments on invoices prior to entry into the accounting system to ensure integrity of the system and proper recognition of revenue and expense. Reviews and processes adjustments to invoices/checks, including authorization, for proper recording in the accounting system. Investigates, researches, and resolves complex trade and non-trade related accounting transactions, including supplier & vendor invoices, travel & entertainment reimbursement requests and inquiries from operations and finance, including transaction history, to ensure proper accounting treatment. Works closely with operations and client billing resolution coordinators to reconcile billing/payment variances on open accounts payable transactions. Reviews purchase orders and invoices to ensure adherence to FTN purchasing policies, including purchase order tracking. Matches prices and quantities to ensure propriety prior to payment and recording in the accounting system. Reviews, records, and tracks information necessary for periodic tax reporting including sales tax, leased car information for year-end w-2 reporting, 1099 data, and other tax withholding. Produces and uses Excel spreadsheets to analyze data, upload payments to coda and produce reports. Reviews and calculates conversion of foreign currency invoices (Canadian) and issues Canadian drafts where necessary.
Associate's degree in accounting or math. Four (4) years of accounts payable experience in lieu of associate's degree. Experience in the brokerage or logisitics industry preferred. Must have good computer skills and experience with excel. Must be able to perform data entry. Must be detail oriented and have good analytical skills.
