This position is responsible for maintaining a queue of assigned work to departmental standards, handling a large volume of inbound/outbound calls, and resolving clearance issues for cage release and freight movement in a time-sensitive Express Clearance Operations environment. Agent must be able to research, analyze and interpret conditions of regulations, and ensure full compliance with all rules and regulations relative to trade compliance and PGA’s. Agent must quickly and effectively work to resolve compliance discrepancies with the paperwork and submit the needed entry to CBP and/or FDA. Agent will play a vital role, liaising between various internal/external customers via phone, fax, or email to obtain needed documentation and ensure clearance of the shipment. Agents should deliver exceptional customer service by building and maintaining positive customer relations. Agents should be able to project a professional image and are expected to comply with CBP and FTN policies and procedures, while exemplifying FedEx’s Core Values. Increase revenue stream by ensuring excellent customer satisfaction thus prompting the customer to return to the FedEx OpCo’s with future business
Researches, analyzes and interprets regulations, guidelines and rulings of US Customs and FTN Policies & Procedures to determine the harmonized tariff number, any applicable special tariff treatment and to ensure full compliance with all rules and regulations relative to US Customs regulatory compliance and any applicable participating government agencies to ensure timely and accurate Customs clearance of FedEx Express caged shipments.
Maintains a thorough understanding and effectively utilizes the internet and US Customs and FedEx systems to properly complete and electronically submit entry to CBP.
Verifies the completion and accuracy of import documentation submitted by the importer/exporter and accurately processes entries and transmits documentation electronically to US Customs, paying close attention to details, including whether the shipment qualifies for special tariff treatment, reduced duty rates, etc. and to ensure all government agency regulations are followed. Works to resolve Customs inquiries and rejects, as well as responds to requests for entry corrections prior to final entry summary.
Updates and maintains accurate customer interaction and transaction records and also records the queries, comments and complaints via FedEx and FTN Systems. Ensures the completion and retention of accurate documentation and customer correspondence (i.e. fax, email) for all shipments worked.
Provides excellent customer service by communicating promptly and professionally with both internal and external customers, via telephone or email to answer inquiries and discuss import regulations and requirements in order to resolve deficiencies in import paperwork and formulates resolution in a timely and accurate manner.
Works directly with origin and destination stations, FedEx HUB locations, and FedEx call centers in all countries via email, trace, and phone correspondence as needed to obtain any missing documentation required to clear the freight through US Customs in a timely manner for release and delivery.
Enters importer number (company EIN or individual SSN) data and maintains database elements of existing/new customers or potential importers via FedEx and FTN systems and submits required information electronically to US Customs.
Responds to a high volume of inbound/outbound calls in a polite and professional manner and maintains performance criteria in accordance with agreed-upon departmental standards. Also maintains uniform business practices and procedures to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and PGA laws and regulations, as well as all FedEx and FTN Guidelines, policies and expectations. Analyzes import documentation, updates trace comments and contacts the external customer on a daily basis for all shipments assigned to the agent.
Identifies, evaluates and solves the issues of customers rapidly and precisely and informs the customer regarding the problem, with continued follow-up as needed to resolve. Also, responds promptly to inquiries by FedEx Express and Express customers about the clearance of shipments.
Follows-up on complicated customer calls where required. Directs the requests and solves the issues for the customer in an efficient and timely manner. Identifies and escalates priority issues and reports to the appropriate level of management any and all irate customers and/or system issues. Evaluates Non-FTN related customer concerns unrelated to brokerage clearance and directs to the appropriate FedEx resource.
Arranges for special delivery of imported freight, by making certain the appropriate paperwork is provided for timely shipment movement. Also arranges for retrieval or voluntary entry of freight that has not properly cleared US Customs and/or PGA.
Adjusts daily work performance to fluctuating volumes up to 150% more than the expected daily average. Maintains a base knowledge with the potential to perform and assist as needed with peer groups. Provides additional support to peer groups as needed to assist with fluctuating volume levels.
Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
