To plan, organize and control operational activities to ensure a high level of service and quality at a minimal cost.
Responsible for selecting, training, and developing a staff of 1 to 10 direct reports. Oversees in the administration of generating approximately $5m to $30m in annual revenue, depending on product(s) responsible for a staff of 1 to 302 indirect reports. Develops, establishes and coordinates department/division objectives and priorities of tactical plans with the region and district staffs to attain optimum usage of assigned resources. Plans and develops district objectives through effective organization of operating functions. Provides assistance in identifying specific marketing opportunities and participates in the development of new or modified service offerings. Ensures the development of the revenue customer base; assists sales through customer site visits to secure/retain accounts. Attains operational efficiency and reduction of unnecessary costs by effectively analyzing, reviewing and directing the activities of key employees in the areas of operations. Ensures that the region meets its goals and budget requirements. Ensures that long and short range planning is accomplished for each operational unit, including contingency planning, properties and capital requirements. Provides assistance to the regional vice president with the input needed to establish planning for the region. Maintains effective reviews and controls activities in the unit to assure effective growth. Audits, analyzes, plans, implements and follows up on all activities in assigned unit. Ensures the development of operations employees to fill positions dictated by company growth; ensures that the affirmative action program is implemented and that goals are met.
This position requires total familiarity with company features of service, systems, policies, and procedures. Strong basic management, human relations, and communications skills. Safety sensitive. Minimum 4 year college degree preferred/equivalent in business and/or minimum 10 years business experience in the apporpriate product field/industry. Minimum 7 years management/ supervisory experience. License or certification in appropriate product field strongly preferred. Chb-individual customs broker's license, transportation- imdg certification and/or ocean forwarders certification.
