Position Summary

The Internal Controls Specialist is responsible for evaluating and reporting center level Control Self-Monitoring (CSM) compliance of the Standard Operating Procedures and educating and training District Managers and Managing Directors on FedEx Office’s Control Self-Monitoring compliance.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform internal control assessments
  • Determine effectiveness of center and district action plans
  • Evaluate center and district CSM Performance
  • Evaluate center level compliance to operating procedures
  • Recommend solutions to business process compliance issues at the center and district level
  • Complete reporting as required
  • Communicate CSM changes and updates to center managers and district managers
  • Train Team Members (District Managers, Senior Center Managers, Center Managers, Business Center Managers, and Assistant Managers) as needed on CSM and how to improve the control environment
  • Support District Manager in improving district CSM and business process compliance to achieve district and company goals
  • Minimum 50% travel required
  • Prepare and deliver professional presentations at all levels of the organization
  • All other duties as needed or required

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in engineering, audit, accounting, or finance
  • CPA, CIA, CISA, CCSA preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • For new hires, must meet all FedEx Office employment qualifications in force at time of hiring
  • For current FedEx Office team members, must meet hiring criteria for the position and transfer requirements as outlined in the Team Member Handbook

Essential Functions

  • Ability to travel as required in order to meet with customers, vendors, other team members, and/or other business necessities
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand during entire shift when performing internal control assessments, excluding meal and rest periods
  • Ability to move and lift 55 pounds
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to bend/twist at the waist and knees
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to read and interpret documents and instructions from customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to work within the appropriate level of independence
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to report regularly to work and maintain established business hours in order to support the FedEx Office business; regular attendance and/or reporting could include regular attendance at a physical location and/or maintaining established business hours depending on the scope and nature of the position
