Position Summary

The Senior Planning Manager, Transportation will apply strategic planning, business acumen and financial expertise to develop the department’s long-range business plans. This includes collaborating on enterprise-wide strategic projects and working with key stakeholders across the company to develop these plans. This team member will shape and present plans that directly impact the future of FedEx Office Transportation. The team member will lead the planning process to develop an ongoing three-year plan, the annual budget, and provide recommendations that will continuously improve the profitability of the transportation network. This individual will also be responsible for problem solving and opportunity evaluation, and strategic recommendations including working closely with our financial analysis/business case modeling team.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage creation of the strategic outlook and long-term planning for FedEx Office Transportation
  • Provide innovative thought leadership and significant contributions to program’s strategic planning knowledge base, serving as a thought partner with other departments to drive this agenda
  • Establish forecasting scorecard and metrics to monitor the strategic plan and communicate critical reports
  • Work with finance and pricing departments to build financial models and provide forecasting for our business
  • Lead the creation of new transportation strategies based on market needs and gaps that represent significant opportunity for FedEx Office, including the development of business plans and ROI cases for new business opportunities
  • Build cross-functional relationships to establish a collaborative environment at all levels of the organization to create a more collaborative innovation process.
  • Communicate analyses and recommendations effectively through clear, concise and insightful presentations and financial models for senior leadership
  • All other duties as needed or required

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing or Business; MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of related work experience in corporate strategy or management consulting required
  • 5+ years Financial Analysis and/or direct P&L responsibility
  • Proven ability to develop strategic recommendations and plans that drive the business forward, leveraging functional expertise, data analytics, quantitative and qualitative research and financials
  • Transportation industry knowledge, specifically in the local courier industry strongly preferred
  • Financial analysis and modeling experience required; consulting experience preferred
  • Must have outstanding strategic thinking skills, strong ability to turn analytics into compelling insights, and be capable of concise oral and written executive communication experience leading complex operational and strategic initiatives
  • Experience with technologies used for tracking data and generating insights (e.g. Excel, Tableau, Spotfire and/or other data too
  • For new hires, must meet all FedEx Office employment qualifications in force at time of hiring
