Position Summary

The Industrial Engineer, Transportation is responsible for operations analysis, engineering support and continuous improvement for all Transportation Operations at FedEx Office. Primary areas of coverage include the planning, development, implementation and reporting of transportation metrics, labor scheduling tools and templates, project and program management. This position will identify and quantify process improvements in all areas of the operation, with emphasis on non-value adding tasks. The Industrial Engineer will analyze the transportation network and develop quantitative and qualitative models to help understand and manage queues effectively. In addition, this position will identify and quantify continuous improvement and process simplification. This position must respond quickly to ad-hoc engineering analysis to support critical strategic decisions, and interacts onteracts with various stakeholders and business partners both internally as well as with third party vendors

General Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate current business processes and future needs in order to help design strategy and be an advocate for Quality Driven Management (QDM) for FXO Transportation
• Minimize waste by analyzing the workflow processes for “Critical to Quality (CTQ)” drivers while reducing cost and cycle times, and improving overall quality
• Monitor, analyze and recommend ways to improve productivity, service, cost performance and waste reduction in all areas of operations
• Help maintain relationships with 3rd party vendors and drive improvement in performance
• Plan, develop and maintain transportation metrics, scheduling tools and supporting daily, weekly and monthly reports and FXO data structure
• Responsible for communicating directly with Operations Management in all areas of responsibility
• Participates in task force teams and management committees / projects related to total FSO productivity and performance
• Utilize demonstrated proficiency in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Business Objects, Essbase, Internet / intranet and PC applications. Skilled in computer modeling of operations.
• Apply understanding and basic skills of IE principles including LEAN, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.
• Apply Understanding of and validate labor work standards and perform time studies
• All other duties and needed or required

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related discipline
• Prior work experience in Industrial Engineering
• Knowledge of labor standards-based models, labor productivity analysis
• Knowledge of LEAN/Six Sigma/5S practices, methodologies and tools
• Prior experience in problem solving, data analytics, root cause analysis and solution implementation
• Project and Program management experience preferred
• Prior experience in analytics, including statistics and forecasting principles
• High level of proficiency with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
• Prior experience in linear and integer programming, and simulation experience preferred
