Position Summary

The Payroll Lead Coordinator is responsible for providing both domestic and foreign payroll support functions for both field headquarters operations as well as for any other domestic and foreign related affiliates. With leadership direction, the Payroll Lead Coordinator may provide direction to the Payroll Coordinators (I and II) and solve escalated customer issues.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate payroll processing functions with management
  • Update and maintain all Payroll Schedule & Calendars
  • Perform selected FedEx Office timekeeping and payroll functions, including but not limited to, importing various HR and vendor interfaces in the payroll system, processing payroll and master file changes as required, and preparing and generating reports for validation and review of both pre-processing and post-processing of the weekly and bi-weekly payroll
  • Provide backup to Payroll Coordinators (I and II) when necessary
  • Define and document Payroll Processing Procedures ensuring that they are being followed as well as identifying and suggesting improvements to process
  • Contribute to enhancing the overall work experience by developing and implementing solutions
  • Resolve issues escalated to payroll in an expeditious and professional manner; escalate unresolved issues to management, as appropriate
  • Administer outsourced garnishment process
  • Administer voluntary withholding deductions in accordance with IRS statues
  • Interact with Human Resources, Operations, Legal, IT, Finance and management
  • Assist with all year end related tasks necessary to produce the annual wage and tax statements
  • Train and provide direction/coach Payroll Coordinators (I and II) on processes and systems to ensure continued improvement
  • Contribute as a knowledge resource for Payroll Coordinators (I and II)
  • Proactively provide status updates for payroll processing and reallocate resources as needed to ensure timely completion
  • Evaluation of Payroll process and system processes and recommend/implement process improvement(s)
  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • All other duties as needed or required

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience in a customer service Payroll environment
  • 3+ years experience in processing multiple withholding documents to include creditor garnishments, child support orders, federal & state tax levies, student loans, and bankruptcy orders
  • Experience using Pro Business payroll software preferred
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
