Position Summary and Essential Duties

Under limited supervision, designs, models, configures, tests and installs databases. Documents database backup, recovery, capacity and security plans. Administers, maintains, and implements changes to existing databases to meet customer requirements. Responds to test and production database problems and implements immediate resolution efforts across technology areas. Implements large/multiple development projects. Responsible for quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Lead liaison between business customers, development and support groups. Coaches the development of less senior DBAs.


Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Five (5) years work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements. Specific skills include: Oracle 11g database installation, patching, and upgrades; Oracle 11g database administration; Oracle Dataguard; Oracle Golden-gate; Unix Shell scripting; Database design and engineering; SQL performance evaluation and tuning.
