Provide expert consultation to internal clients regarding regulatory compliant and proper handling, labeling, documentation, record maintenance, clean-up, disposal and transportation of dangerous goods. Support the communication and training needs of employees regarding dangerous goods shipments to ensure proper handling. Addresses hazardous and non-hazardous spills including their clean-up in compliance with company policies and procedures and OSHA regulations.
High school diploma/GED/equivalent. Three (3) years experience as a trained dangerous goods specialist in a warehouse/distribution environment, including one (1) year in spill clean-up. Knowledgeable in regulatory requirements related to the handling, storing, shipping, clean-up and disposal of dangerous goods, including labeling of shipments/vehicles and required documentation and record keeping. Ability to complete all basic and recurrency training for dangerous goods and spill clean-up. Able to effectively communicate verbally in a time-sensitive manner in a noisy operations environment. Able to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver items of any weight above 50 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person. After applicable training, ability to safely/effectively operate a pallet jack, forklift, order picker, reach truck and other types of warehouse and disposal equipment. General knowledge of computers and the ability to effectively operate warehouse computers and scanning equipment and understand how they relate to the inventory process. Good organizational and communication skills. Detail oriented. Able to work variable shifts and weekends/holidays.
