Assoc Field Packaging Engineer

Description

This position performs traditional packaging engineering responsibilities at the FedEx Packaging Lab, serving as a vital customer-facing resource while also providing hands-on laboratory testing and design support. Engineers play a crucial role in reducing shipping costs, protecting the FedEx brand, and enhancing the overall customer experience by actively preventing and resolving package damage and loss.

Essential Functions

• Serve as a primary technical expert for FedEx internal and external customers to evaluate and improve their packaging designs.
• Directly resolve package design deficiencies to mitigate damage, reducing overall shipping costs and improving the customer experience.
• Analyze shipping data to identify customers that require improved packaging methods, actively partnering with the customer and sales to implement enhanced packaging solutions.
• Perform material and packaging testing at the FedEx Packaging Lab to support procurement, sourcing roadmaps, and corporate objectives.
• Executes design, testing, prototyping, and validation protocols for a wide variety of packaging solutions.
• Assists in providing appropriate technical training and packaging guidance directly to customers in areas such as damage reduction, proper packing for various commodities, and secure package handling.
• Assists in inspecting high declared value damages at the shipper or consignee location to determine root cause and liability.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelors degree in industrial engineering or related engineering discipline required.

Minimum Experience

None required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong analytical, computer and communication skills.

Job Conditions

Some travel required.

Preferred Qualifications: Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science degree required. Special skills: AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD, Microsoft Office suite. This position will be hybrid in Collierville TN and candidates must live within a 50 mile radius. Relocation assistance may be available based on business need.

Pay Transparency: E23

Pay: $4,600.74- $7,361.18
