Lead Data Analyst II – Air Network Planning & Scheduling (Special Projects)

The Lead Data Analyst II – Air Network Planning & Scheduling serves as a strategic advisor and special projects lead, driving advanced analytics, automation, and optimization initiatives across the Asia Pacific air network.
This role operates across both air network scheduling and airline partner planning functions, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, decision-making, and operational performance through data-driven solutions. The position is responsible for designing and implementing innovative tools, automation frameworks, and experimental optimization tools that enhance planning capabilities and support scalable network growth. This person would also work with our tech teams to then ensure scaling of successful experimental tools into wider/global usage.
The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, aviation domain knowledge, and practical problem-solving, with the ability to translate complex operational challenges into effective, usable solutions for planners across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Special Projects Leadership
- Lead high-impact, cross-functional projects spanning air network scheduling, airline partner planning, and operational performance.
- Act as a strategic advisor to planning leadership, identifying opportunities for innovation, efficiency gains, and capability enhancement.
- Drive end-to-end project execution from concept through deployment and adoption.
Advanced Analytics & Optimization
- Develop and implement optimization models and analytical frameworks to improve network design, scheduling efficiency, and partner performance.
- Apply data-driven approaches to solve complex planning problems, including routing, capacity allocation, and operational trade-offs.
- Translate analytical outputs into actionable insights for planning teams and leadership.
Automation & Tool Development
- Design, build, and maintain automation tools, scripts, and lightweight products to streamline planning workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Develop scalable solutions that integrate with existing scheduling and planning systems.
- Continuously identify opportunities to eliminate inefficiencies through automation and process redesign.
Cross-Functional Enablement
- Work closely with scheduling engineers, network planning engineers, operations teams, and partner management to embed solutions into daily workflows.
- Adapt tools and approaches to suit a wide range of users, from highly technical to operational planners.
- Provide hands-on support to ensure successful implementation and adoption of new tools and processes.
Experimentation & Innovation
- Lead experimental initiatives focused on advanced automation, optimization techniques, and emerging technologies.
- Pilot new approaches, evaluate outcomes, and scale successful solutions across the organization.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in airline planning, logistics optimization, and data analytics.
Standards & Best Practices
- Establish best practices for data usage, model development, and automation within the planning team.
- Ensure solutions are robust, maintainable, and aligned with operational realities.
- Document tools, methodologies, and processes to support long-term sustainability.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Operations Research, Aviation, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in data analysis, analytics engineering, or operational analytics roles.
- Experience in airline scheduling, air network planning, or aviation/logistics operations.
- Demonstrated experience building automation tools, analytical models, or internal products (e.g., scripting, dashboards, optimization tools).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work across both technical and operational domains.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in air cargo operations or express logistics networks.
- Exposure to optimization techniques (e.g., linear programming, simulation, network optimization).
- Experience integrating tools with planning or scheduling systems.
- Some familiarity with data engineering, APIs, or system integration concepts.
- Experience leading cross-functional or innovation-focused projects.
