Manager IT (Application Development & Portfolio Management)

Description

We are seeking an experienced IT Manager, Solution Design & Portfolio Management to lead our application delivery, solution architecture, and technology portfolio governance across the Australia business. This role is responsible for driving digital transformation initiatives, overseeing solution architecture, and implementing Lean Portfolio Management practices to ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value. 

The successful candidate will serve as a strategic technology leader, partnering closely with business stakeholders, regional and global IT teams, vendors, and executive leadership to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative technology solutions. 

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lean Portfolio Management (LPM): Partner with business leaders to develop multi-year technology roadmaps and align the application and technology portfolio with strategic objectives; facilitate demand intake, investment prioritisation, and capacity management to ensure an optimal balance across running, growing, and transforming the business while robustly measuring value realisation and return on investment. 
• Solution Architecture Leadership: Define target-state architecture, cloud-native modernisation roadmaps, and modern design standards (including integration, APIs, security controls, and etc.) while leading governance reviews and partnering closely with key stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment across enterprise applications and programs. 
• Stakeholder Management: Build strong, collaborative relationships with business leaders and key stakeholders to translate business requirements into technology solutions, influence data-driven decision-making, and provide regular updates to leadership on portfolio health, delivery progress, risks, and value realisation. 
• Technology Governance and Risk Management: Ensure strict compliance with corporate security, risk, and regulatory standards while proactively managing application lifecycles, technical debt, operational resilience (including disaster recovery and business continuity), and third-party vendor performance. 
• People Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop high-performing technical and application development teams, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation while actively driving workforce planning, succession planning, and performance and career development. 

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. 
• 8+ years of IT experience, including software development and enterprise application delivery. 
• 3+ years in a people leadership or IT management role. 
• Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional technology teams. 
• Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects and strategic initiatives. 
• Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture and systems integration. 
• Experience managing vendors and outsourced delivery partners. 

Qualifications

• Experience implementing Lean Portfolio Management or SAFe frameworks. 
• Experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, eCommerce, or large enterprise environments. 
• Experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, or hybrid cloud environments. 
• Knowledge of DevSecOps, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices. 
• Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks. 
• Relevant certifications such as SAFe Lean Portfolio Manager, SAFe Agilist, TOGAF, PMP, Certified ScrumMaster, Microsoft Azure Architect, and AWS Solutions Architect.
