Role Overview: IT Contract & Vendor Management Leader
We are seeking a strategic, commercially driven leader for our IT Partnership Vendor Management team. This organization manages high-value, complex professional services and consulting engagements across our global IT organization. The portfolio interacts closely with technical and business stakeholders; however the primary focus of this role is commercial leadership, end-to-end contract lifecycle governance, proactive financial oversight, and robust relationship management.
The ideal candidate will excel at translating complex requirements into optimized commercial frameworks, bridging the gap between business objectives, finance, legal, and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
Contract Lifecycle & Governance
• Oversee the complete contract lifecycle, including drafting, redlining, evaluating, and negotiating high-value Statements of Work (SOWs), master service agreements (MSAs), amendments, and contract renewals.
• Ensure that business prioritization, resource feasibility, and initial funding approvals are aligned internally.
• Partner closely with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and IT and business owners to ensure that contract structures, delivery timelines, and performance-based SLAs protect organizational value and satisfy corporate gating processes.
• Monitor vendor compliance against contractual obligations and milestones across multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring that scope changes, renewals, and project cancellations are executed with high administrative rigor.
Strategic Vendor Management
• Direct executive-level relationship frameworks and business reviews to ensure long-term alignment, delivery quality, and contract compliance.
• Work hand-in-hand with IT leaders and project sponsors to translate technical requests (e.g., pricing transformation, managed services, or resource augmentation) into tightly defined, high-impact commercial scopes.
• Act as the primary escalation point for vendor issues, resolving complex supplier disputes, scope creep, or service level misses.
• Oversee competitive bidding processes, working with Procurement, on supplier selection criteria, commercial evaluations, and final award recommendations.
• Partner with IT and business teams to translate organizational requirements into clear commercial scopes of work (SOWs).
• Identify opportunities for vendor consolidation, cost optimization, and process improvements across the existing supplier ecosystem.
Financial & Commercial Oversight
• Lead proactive forecasting of upcoming professional services demand, modeling future run-rates and analyzing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to drive fiscal accountability.
• Verify invoice accuracy, cross-reference resource utilization against SOW milestones, and apply contractual credits or penalties where delivery thresholds are missed.
• Manage portfolio spend, budgets, and cost tracking to drive fiscal accountability and realize target savings.
• Conduct total cost of ownership (TCO) and ROI analyses to support executive business cases and sourcing decisions.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment
• Foster an environment focused on financial discipline, strong organizational agility, and exceptional service to internal business partners.
• Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and operational guidance to a team of contract and relationship management professionals.
• Develop a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement, commercial rigor, and high-impact stakeholder service.
• Serve as the primary commercial advisor and escalation point for business unit leaders, translating business needs into actionable contractual strategies.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, math or directly related quantitative degree or related field.
Minimum Experience
Five (5) years systems development experience which includes programming. Skill in one or more programming languages.
If position is in mainframe environment, complex systems experience on IBM operating systems or microprocessors required. Experience in the technical design and development of major data processing projects. IMS experience.
If position is in client/server environment, systems development experience to include distributed systems is required. Experience in client/server technology, object oriented (OO) development or case tools. Experience in the technical design and development of major client/server projects.
Required Experience & Background
• Professional Background: Proven leadership in Commercial Contract Management, Strategic Vendor Management, Financial, Business or Project Management.
• Commercial Negotiation Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency leading contract negotiations.
• Governance: Demonstrated success working within a structured project management framework.
• Leadership Track Record: Proven experience leading, developing, and motivating teams, as well as influencing cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of software and engineering principles. Strong basic management, human relations, and communication skills.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong financial fluency, with strong experience in contract optimization, project budget modeling, financial forecasting, and contract analytics.
• Ability to translate program requirements into clear, outcome-based contract parameters, bridging the gap between internal teams and external suppliers.
• Exceptional negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
• High organizational agility, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Plano, TX: $10,231.53 / mo - $13,812.57 / mo
Pittsburgh, PA: $10,231.53 / mo - $13,812.57 / mo
Memphis, TN: $9,719.16/ mo - $13,121.94 / mo
Domicile
This is a hybrid position located in Plano, TX or Pittsburgh, PA or Memphis, TN. Candidates must live within 50 miles of the campus location. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week.
