Business Applications Advisor
The Business Applications Advisor interacts with business partners and/or it staff to gather and document information related to requirements and/or software testing. Gathers information from multiple sources and independently sorts medium to high complexity business issues to recommend appropriate direction. Frequently leads large project efforts. Analyzes business processes and associates them to software deliverables. Develops and/or executes test scripts against requirements. Drafts and reviews documentation in compliance with the FedEx global development process. Develops and/or maintains a business model that reflects current processes and business rules. Provides and/or consolidate input to scoping and impact analysis for Future deliverables. Mentors those in less senior positions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Hands-on configuration of Manhattan WMOS WMS systems.
- Participate in all phases of implementation and production support for multi-technology, business-critical systems.
- Gather requirements and design accurate, efficient solutions.
- Analyze and reengineer repetitive failed processes to reduce operational risk.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure shared understanding and minimize rework.
- Maintain knowledge of interface specifications and configuration options.
- Document requirements and solutions according to the business SDLC process.
- Support transition of new customer and development projects into daily operations.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, external customers, consultants, and vendors.
- Stay current on warehouse execution technologies, capabilities, and trends.
- Create presentations and scorecards; generate reports using Excel.
- Follow change control methodology in daily activities.
- Develop and update strategies, methodologies, and standards for supply chain systems.
- Provide 24/7/365 coverage as needed through on-call rotation.
- Mentor less senior team members.
- Travel for projects as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience supporting or implementing Manhattan WMOS WMS systems preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills to ensure business operations meet contractual service level agreements.
- Ability to work effectively in distributed teams with clear communication and proactive status updates.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both technical and operational.
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux servers and Oracle relational databases is a plus.
- Outgoing, action-oriented self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments.
- Strong proficiency in Oracle SQL for application development.
