Job summary
The Advisor, Software Developer -- IIB provides leadership and initiative in a team environment. This role ensures application of systems thinking principles, enabling team members to independently design, code, test, and deploy software. Responsibilities include documentation to support the software development life cycle, developing prototypes and solutions across diverse technologies, applying modern methodologies to launch new business capabilities, resolving complex problems, and mentoring less senior developers.
Primary responsibilities
- Encode, test, debug, and document complex software/programs.
- Review, analyze, troubleshoot, and modify core and customized software.
- Respond to escalated customer inquiries and requests for technical/operational support.
- Resolve complex technical matters to meet customer service level agreements.
- Analyze and implement corrective actions for root cause analysis and defect resolution.
- Follow documented Software Development Life-Cycle standards.
- Provide consultation on complex projects as a top-level contributor or specialist.
- Serve as point of contact for higher-level or complex issues, collaborating with senior leaders for resolution.
- Design, develop, test, and support applications using MQ, IBM Integration Bus, ESQL, Java, EDI, Oracle Database, SOAP/REST Web Services, DataPower, API Connect, XML, SOA, ESB, and workflow technologies.
- Develop technical and conceptual specifications; prepare prototypes for proof of concept.
- Configure and integrate interfaces to other application systems; develop data-related files.
- Analyze data, troubleshoot issues, provide root cause analysis, and resolve problems with optimal solutions.
- Communicate with end-users and customers to collect and clarify business requirements.
- Develop test plans to ensure thorough testing and documentation.
- Mentor team members; peer review technical deliverables for compliance with requirements.
- Develop basic queries for troubleshooting production support issues.
- Generate reports using queries and PL/SQL; analyze data.
- Provide after-hours or on-call support as required, including weekends and evenings.
Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Experience: 8 years of relevant experience.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical expertise: Strong understanding of Java (1.4+), JSP, XML, HTML, JavaScript.
- Databases: Oracle 9+; programming with SQL and PL/SQL.
- Analysis: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, journals, technical procedures, work instructions, process maps, and regulations.
- Documentation: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Presentation: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse audiences.
- Problem-solving: Ability to solve practical problems and manage variables in non-standardized situations.
- Professional standards: Basic understanding of and willingness to adopt industry standards.
- Customer focus: Customer service driven.
