Avionics Component Technician (ACT)
Description
Job Duties
Operates, tests and repairs avionics line replaceable units, monitor their performances, troubleshoot and diagnoses any problems in a depot level shop. Performs return-to-service testing after repair, overhaul or modification. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
High school diploma, GED. FCC general radio telephone operators license, elements 1 and 3 required. Must qualify for repairman’s certification with radio and instrument ratings per FAR 65.101; qualification for accessory rating preferred.
Minimum Experience
Thirty-six (36) months avionics component technician level 3 experience on the following systems: navigation, radio, instruments, autopilot, and radar. Familiarity with avionics shop maintenance operations and procedures preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of all aspects of avionics LRU maintenance techniques and electronic test equipment. Working knowledge of proper soldering techniques including through- hole and surface mount. Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy aircraft related components, parts and equipment.
Job Conditions
Must be willing to work odd work weeks, rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays. FAA covered safety sensitive position. Subject to regulatory alcohol & drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine & opioids. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
