General Summary….

The Battery Technician is responsible for ensuring proper forklift battery rotation, proper placement in motorized vehicles, storage of batteries and continuing preventative maintenance. This position is responsible for product safety, quality and equipment.

 

This position will be responsible for…..

  • Ensure batteries are charged properly and ready for use.
  • Change batteries in forklifts in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Keep current batteries maintained for maximum life.
  • Identify any defects in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with maintenance department to schedule repairs.
  • Propose to management when equipment needs replaced.

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required and 0-2 years in a manufacturing/packaging environment, or equivalent combination of vocational education and experience.
  • Six (6) months of experience with battery powered trucks.
  • Must have exceptional problem solving and maintenance skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service driven.
  • Strong team player.

 

Physical/Cognitive Requirements

  • Ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret information.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to sit/walk/stand for up to 8 hours per day. 
  • Must possess visual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
