Chief Business Architect
Description
The primary responsibility of the Chief Business Architect is to consult and guide the identification of business value through the holistic conceptualization and refinement of business strategy, analysis, planning, and design of manual and automated enterprise-level solutions
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Simplify business and technology by driving the domains, the Business areas, and the Enterprise to a mutually agreed upon target state and constructing roadmaps to get to that goal
- Collaborate with other roles to drive Domain Preferred Future State (PFS) by developing a current-state fact base that highlights the domain’s case for change (including pain-points, applications, and overview of a domain) and using business architecture to architect the processes and capabilities with Best-Better-Good (including scope and vision statements as well as business activities)
- Support Enterprise Architecture during strategic consultation to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary enterprise design independent of OpCo, region, portfolio, or business unit; provide strategic decision-making support for Business and IT
- Support Enterprise and Portfolio Architecture in the demand operating model to turn enterprise strategy into actionable work through decomposition of FedEx’s most strategic initiatives
- Participate and lead in Business Architecture Community of Practice/Excellence activities & sub-teams
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Business Architecture practice and discipline knowledge
- Strong strategic thinking, includes abstract reasoning and critical thinking skills
- Systems thinking, supports an engineered approach starting with the end in mind; mitigate the challenge of ongoing incrementalism challenges
- In-depth knowledge of company operations and of the broader FedEx Enterprise
- Ability to operate in vague / undefined space with limited direction or oversight
- Influential leadership skills required to promote collaboration at all levels of the enterprise across multiple domains
Minimum Education
Bachelors degree in engineering, business information systems, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline.
Minimum Experience
Seven (7) years of relevant experience is required, with at least five (5) years in areas such as applications development or maintenance, transportation/logistics operations, business/enterprise analysis, business process modeling, business object or logical data modeling, business and/or IT standards/processes, metrics design/analysis, software design, and systems strategic planning.
Domicile Information
This position is eligible for remote work and may be located anywhere within the United States excluding AK, HI and U.S. territories, however if you live within the 50 miles radius of a campus you will be required to work at a FedEx campus location several times per week.
