Description
The Chief Strategic Project Eng role includes acting as the technical expert in strategic projects and related subjects within FedEx. They oversee the creation of strategic project development and design, identify and source consultants or contractors for specialized expertise, and stay updated on new technologies to inform the manager about potential new products and business opportunities.
Essential Functions
- Handles complex and unique engineering problems related to strategic project development by applying fundamental engineering and program management principles
- Evaluate and develop solutions to these problems and, where appropriate, create engineering and manufacturing solutions
- Represent or assist the manager in coordinating various engineering disciplines in support of strategic projects
- Develops the financial production cost model and business case
- Coordinates market potential surveys with internal and external services
- Acts as the primary technical consultant within FedEx for matters related to assigned production projects
- Develop and coordinate production concepts with suppliers, coordinate engineering design, and oversee product implementation, patent searches, and other legal matters
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Education
Bachelors degree in engineering.
Minimum Experience
Eight (8) years of directly related aircraft engineering experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong analytical, human relations, and communication skills.
Computer programming abilities.
Job Conditions
Some travel required.
Preferred Qualifications: Aircraft Structures or Aeronautical Engineering Degree Preferred Aircraft Structures or Aeronautical Engineering Degree Preferred. Extensive Experience in Design and Support of Structures/Structural Installations. Extensive knowledge with FAA FARs 21,25,91,121 and Aircraft Design and FAA STC Certification.
