Description
Under minimal supervision plans, develops, implements and evaluates effective large communication efforts including strategy development, content determination, creative direction, research, writing, editing and validation.

Position Summary
The Communications Advisor will lead efforts to amplify the company’s corporate strategy, financial performance, and business strategy narrative with top-tier and business-focused media. This role is critical to supporting the needs of the company by driving external visibility, shaping executive thought leadership, and positioning the company as a leader in its industry and in financial communication excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Corporate & Financial Storytelling
- Develop and execute strategies to tell the company’s corporate strategy, financial results, and business initiatives to influential media outlets, industry publications, and thought leadership platforms.
- Craft compelling narratives that highlight strategic vision, financial strength, and key business achievements, working closely with internal teams such as Investor Relations, Corporate Strategy, etc.
- Identify and execute storytelling opportunities for senior leadership, primarily the CFO.
- Media Relations
- Serve as a liaison for corporate, financial, and business strategy-related media inquiries; ensure timely, accurate, and strategic responses.
- Build and maintain relationships with top-tier national, business, and financial media reporters.
- Proactively pitch stories that align with corporate strategic priorities and resonate with business and financial audiences.
- Prepare executives for media interactions by developing briefing materials, talking points, and providing media coaching.
- Executive Visibility & Thought Leadership
- Expand the company's speaker bench by securing opportunities for executives at industry conferences, panels, and events.
- Partner with leadership to position them as thought leaders in corporate strategy, financial markets, and business growth.
- Content Development
- Create high-quality communications materials including press releases, op-eds, blogs, and social content focused on corporate strategy, financial reporting, and business developments.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure messaging consistency across all channels.
- Strategic Collaboration
- Work closely with global communications, public affairs, and issues management teams to ensure alignment on sensitive topics and crisis communications.
- Support integrated campaigns that elevate the company’s corporate strategy and financial narrative globally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in media relations, corporate communications or corporate strategy, with a focus on corporate strategy, financial communications, or business strategy sectors.
- Proven track record of securing coverage in top-tier business, financial, and mainstream media outlets.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex corporate strategy and financial information into compelling narratives.
- Experience supporting executive visibility and thought leadership programs.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and manage multiple priorities.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree/equivalent.
Minimum Experience
Five (5) years directly related experience.
More advanced degrees may offset experience requirements. A related Master’s Degree equals two (2) years experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated experience in institutional or corporate communications with an emphasis on communication planning/analysis and exposure to print and non-print media strategies.
Ability to study complex data and broad business strategy and convert into practical, creative and effective communication strategies.
Highly proficient analytical, problem-solving, organization, creativity, grammar, writing and human relations/relation management skills.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred locations for this hybrid position are Memphis, Plano and PGH. However, we will consider candidates based elsewhere within the United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories with a remote preference of NY. Candidates residing within 50 miles of a FedEx campus will be required to work on-site at a FedEx location several times per week.
