Description
The Control Systems Project Eng role involves providing strategic project-level leadership in computer hardware architecture, application software development, scanning, dimensioning, and weighing technology, network design, and security for FedEx’s material handling and automated sort systems.
Essential Functions
- Lead teams in developing new systems, supporting legacy systems, and offering ongoing support to maintenance and operational support groups
- Developing project-level system architecture and software strategy
- Maintaining knowledge of current and past technical capabilities of industrialized computer systems
- Coordinating construction scheduling and application development with project management
- Conducting job site inspections to ensure contractor compliance with standards, specifications, and plans
- Provide ongoing technical support to operational workgroups
- Assist in reviewing project bids and change orders
- Maintain communication and coordinate design with various workgroups
- Develop, conduct, and document research and development projects to improve productivity and increase dimensioned and weight revenue from material handling systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Education
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
Minimum Experience
Seven (7) years of experience in designing and implementing integrated control systems for complex material handling and automatic sortation systems.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proficiency in industrial and process control system software programming languages, network cybersecurity, software engineering, and system administration practices.
Experience with Rockwell PLC, HMI, Historian, and associated applications.
