This is an interview position.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of CTV is to transport freight to and from stations and hub facilities and/or pickup and delivery of large skidded freight and/or multiple piece skidded shipments in a safe and responsible manner and with a sense of urgency. Responsibilities also include the regular operation of power material handling equipment for proper loading, weight balancing and sequencing of unit loading devices.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

High school diploma

Twelve (12) months heavy vehicle driving experience preferred

Class AZ (Class 1) driver's license with good driving record required

Air brake certification required

Class 1 in Province of Quebec (includes air brake certification)

Must be certified and current in dangerous goods handling, operation of material handling equipment, ULD inspection to test FAA airworthiness, t-stacking

Ability to pass regular Provincial Transportation physicals and written tests

Ability to comply with new FAST (US custom regulations/criminal background check) regulations

Must be proficient in completing TORTES application as required

For Drivers that have responsibility for Pick up and Delivery (PUD), must have demonstrated proficiency using PUD processes and all standard customs paperwork as outlined in the Courier training manual (required to complete and pass within the first 90 days of entering into a PUD position or as the training schedule allows as determined by the manager)

Drivers of company vehicles may be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing because of regulatory and other requirements (e.g., cross-border transportation). Any such drivers will be subject to the drug/alcohol testing and all other related requirements as a condition of their driving position.

Pre-hire drug testing is mandatory for DOT cross-border drivers

Must be able to be certified by an accredited driver training institution of the company ‘s choosing

Professional driving ability

Broad (intra-provincial) geographical knowledge

Knowledge of inter-provincial regulations

Ability to read and interpret maps

Knowledge of emergency response procedures and who to contact; particularly in off-peak hours

Must have mechanical aptitude

Thorough understanding of ramp procedures

Knowledge of Tortes, Famis, and other Windows based applications.

Cosmos experience an asset.

Customer service skills

Ability to multitask

Organizational skills, especially on the road

Analytical ability

Must be able to communicate effectively between hub, station facility management, and dispatch

Must be receptive and adaptable to change
