Data Architect Principal
Description
Provides data expertise at the business unit level. developing data architecture for significant and highly impactful initiatives allocated to one or more Agile Release Trains in partnership with business and IT stakeholders. Documents current state and creates future state alternatives and roadmaps for format, storage, transport, migration, and retention of data used across multiple business initiatives. Aligns data architecture for business unit initiatives with enterprise data architecture. Explores and provides expert recommendations on appropriate application of multiple database technologies. Provides leadership and guidance in communicating and implementing data governance and data management practices to protect and improve the value of data. Balances concerns of data as an asset with application modernization. Mentors those in less senior positions. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business plus 5 years of experience in information technology or engineering environment. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent* in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business plus 7 years of experience in information technology or engineering environment in lieu of a Master's degree plus 5 years of experience. The position requires experience with: Recognized leadership skills, working collaboratively and creatively with business and IT stakeholders. Proven experience creating architecture models and implementation methodologies. Strong human relations and communication skills. Presenting and communicating results of complex data and system architecture analysis and interpretations to solve multifaceted business problems to business & IT partners and leadership. Effectively recommend business intelligence solutions and future-state alternatives and follow through to implementation / realization. Align data architecture for business initiatives with overall enterprise structure and strategy to recommend appropriate solutions with future-state in mind. Provide leadership and guidance in communicating and implementing data governance and data management practices to protect and improve the value of customer & transactional data. Create, communicate, and present architecture models and implementation methodologies to business and IT audiences. Expertise in logistics, customer, & transactional data analytics to make informed, strategic business decisions. Utilize predictive & prescriptive analytics, data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence to make strategic decisions & solve complex business problems. This position will be hybrid in Memphis, TN and candidates must live within a 50-mile radius. This position is hybrid, meaning that employees will be required to work at a FedEx office location up to several times per week. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements. *Employer will accept one (1) year of directly related experience in lieu of one (1) year of education.
