Under limited supervision, creates project level data architecture artifacts for specific projects.

Essential Functions

  • Working with the business, IT and other architects, facilitates the creation and evaluation of data models, data governance data strategy through the review of requirements and use cases that are data driven to recommend project level artifacts with strategic initiatives and with the standard methodologies for development.
  • Utilize a data driven fact base to make recommendations and provide guidance on enterprise data standards, structure and models
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Ensure overall data management concerns are addressed in the solution: data acquisition, data organization, data governance, data quality, data distribution, data storage and retention, data security, data integration, reference and master data management, analytics, and metadata management
  • Lead identification of reusable data services to accelerate delivery of value and eliminate data replication
  • Define architectural patterns and platform guidelines to ingest and operationalize data analytic capabilities
  • Collaborate with data analytics organization to leverage data within the data lakes (on-prem and in the Cloud)
  • Align information and data architectures with enterprise business, solution, tools and technical architectures at the portfolio and solution levels
  • Collaborate with design DBAs and solution architects to provide leadership on logical designs and transformation to implemented data structures
  • Provide conceptual and detailed design of data structures of data at rest (databases) and data in motion (API interfaces, messages)
  • Establish and accurately document data lineage in the context of data architecture, data analytics
  • Collaborate with DBAs to implement physical design, solution architects to implement logical model and enforce platform standards

Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure:

  • Experience & understanding of portfolio management tools (ie. Planview, Apptio etc.)
  • Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for all levels of an organization
  • Strong Emotional Intelligence and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence without positional authority
  • Demonstrated Agile, SAFe and Lean experience
  • ETL, SQL, MS Azure
  • Experience & understanding of workflow management tools (ie. Digital.ai, JIRA, TFS etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience and understanding of FedEx Operations, Engineering and Systems
  • Experience and understanding of Planview, Digital.ai tool and Agility/SAFe principles
  • Focus and experience using QDM principles and/or Lean techniques for process improvement.
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI or Spotfire to build compelling material to influence change.

Domicile Information:  

This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States. The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. This position is required to be onsite 2-3

times per year at the Memphis, TN location.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree, in computer science, engineering, information systems and/or equivalent formal training.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to apply basic computer concepts, theories, principles and methods to projects, business problems, issues, and/or questions.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $5,364.26/month - $14,413.11/month
