A Data Science and Operations Research (DSOR) Enablement III is an experienced role focused on contributing to the integration of advanced analytics and operations research methodologies within the organization. They assist in optimizing business processes and decision-making by working with cross functional teams to identify and implement data-driven solutions that align with organizational objectives. With a good grasp of both business operations and technical methodologies, they offer support and share technical expertise with DSOR practitioners, aiding in the delivery of useful insights and solutions. They help to communicate DSOR initiatives effectively, ensuring that their contributions are aligned with value-driven outcomes.
This role requires familiarity with data science and operations research alongside business understanding to promote innovation and improvement within the enterprise, while staying aware of current advancements and aiding in the organization's strategy to utilize these capabilities effectively.
About the team and role:
This position is not a hands-on data science or operations research scientist practitioner role. While this position sits adjacent to DS and OR practitioners, its focus is on communicating and influencing around the use of DS and OR solutions to drive meaningful value for the Enterprise.

A candidate selected for this position will focus most on the Narrative foundation that underpins our team’s mission—someone who skillfully weaves data and insights into compelling stories that inspire action and drive change where DSOR is transforming the business. The ideal candidate is passionate about advanced analytics and possesses a natural ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, relatable messages tailored for diverse audiences. They will demonstrate a strong strategic mindset, able to navigate seamlessly between the big picture and detailed data, shaping conversations that align stakeholders around value-driven outcomes and empower evidence-based decisions.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and influence DSOR initiatives by harnessing storytelling to transform data and insights into clear, persuasive, action-oriented narratives.
- Facilitate the end-to-end narrative development process—guiding ideation, crafting engaging content (written, visual, presentations, video), and tailoring materials to diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
- Collaborate with DSOR practitioners, business users, and leaders to identify key insights and translate complex data into compelling stories that highlight challenges and opportunities.
- Design and implement repeatable storytelling frameworks to elevate DSOR communications organization-wide.
- Coach and mentor team members on storytelling, visualization, and presentation best practices to enhance influence and engagement.
- Measure and refine narrative effectiveness using feedback and data, continuously improving clarity and business impact.
- Advise leadership on leveraging storytelling to advance DSOR strategy and foster a data-driven culture at FedEx.
- Support DSOR Enablement through governance, product, and advancement as needed
Skills / Abilities
- Expertise in narrative design that balances logic and emotion to engage and persuade diverse stakeholders.
- Strong visualization acumen to create intuitive, accurate visuals that reinforce and clarify the narrative.
- Deep audience empathy and adaptability, tailoring communication to resonate and drive action across organizational levels.
- Change management experience, using storytelling to build buy-in and reduce resistance to DSOR initiatives.
- Creative problem-solving to translate complex technical challenges into clear, compelling narratives.
- Proven collaboration and influencing skills, able to align cross-functional teams through narrative without formal authority.
- Commitment to continuous learning in data science, operations research, and communication to enhance storytelling effectiveness.
- Technical editing and quality assurance expertise to ensure narrative materials are polished, accurate, and accessible.
- Good project management skills and the ability to support a portfolio of projects.
- Proficiency with data science and operations research tools and methodologies.
- Facilitation skills, able to guide group discussions and gather feedback.
Domicile Information:
This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States. The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Data Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Business
Administration, Business Analytics, or related discipline. [Advanced degree preferred.]
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Three to four (3 - 4) years of experience in working with teams in analytics, data science, operations
research, engineering or a related field, with demonstrated leadership in managing teams and executing
complex projects. Practitioner or practitioner-adjacent experience in analytics, data science, operations
research, or a related fields inclusive of prototyping and rapid experimentation
Preferred Qualifications:
Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $104,480 - $156,720
