Description

Lead the long range planning for the business, application, data and technical architecture for the solutions in a specific domain. Ensuring all solutions within that domain work logically and coherently together.

As a Domain Architect this role will be responsible for designing and architecting the applications under the Retail Platform Services. This position will support projects to deliver enterprise-wide application solutions. This person will collaborate with value streams, internal and external teams to identify the critical design requirements with our business architecture. This person will have a strong understanding of architectural best practices distributed software development and work with third party vendors. Lead and/or assist in resolution of complex production problems. Mentor development of those in less senior positions.

Essential Functions

Architectural Leadership & Strategy 

  • Provide leadership at the enterprise level for technical design of significant projects. 
  • Lead long-range planning for business, application, data, and technical architecture within the Print and Document domain. 
  • Be responsible for decisions and priorities regarding overall domain architecture. 
  • Apply enterprise principles, standards, and practices to influence enterprise architecture direction and optimize solutions. 
  • Translate business impacts for the domain into architectural solutions (current and target state). 
  • Develop architecture solutions that meet performance, reliability, scalability, and security requirements. 
  • Ensure all solutions within the domain work logically and coherently together. 
  • Drive delivery of architectural deliverables aligned to the strategic vision and business needs. 

Technical Expertise, Innovation & Reliability Rigor 

  • Demonstrate strong architectural and design skills with emphasis on building resilient, fault-tolerant systems. 
  • Champion reliability rigor by incorporating redundancy, observability, automated alerting, and failover mechanisms in architecture. 
  • Lead planning and validation of backout plans for major changes and deployments to ensure recovery and rollback readiness. 
  • Familiarity with REST API architectures and integration strategies and implementations. 
  • Drive innovation and adoption of cloud-native architecture and modern deployment models in the Print and Document domain. 
  • Stay current with industry trends and incorporate emerging technologies where applicable. 
  • Lead or assist in resolving complex production issues with a focus on root cause and long-term prevention. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner with business teams to evaluate requirements and translate complex business needs into intuitive, technical concepts. 
  • Work and negotiate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Communicate architectural decisions clearly to development teams, leadership, and external partners. 
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams and junior architects. 

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement 

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence. 
  • Identify opportunities for architectural optimization and process streamlining. 
  • Integrate proactive reliability, recovery, and backout capabilities into system design and delivery. 
  • Adapt to frequent changes with strong self-direction and leadership agility. 

Vendor & Partner Management 

  • Lead vendor engagement efforts, ensuring architectural alignment and delivery commitments. 
  • Manage vendor performance and ensure solutions meet or exceed SLAs, including uptime and recovery metrics. 

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information Systems, business and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Understand the Print and Document Domain 
  • Understand the Print Controllers and how it works 
  • Experience in providing architecture runway in an agile environment, specifically SAFe or another scaled scrum methodology. 
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards and controls. 
  • Work or understand Java, Weblogic, Tomcat, Web Services (SOAP, REST), Jenkins, Maven, CI/CD, PCF, Unix, GitLab 

Domicile Information  

Location: The domicile for this position will be in Dallas, TX

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: $9,208.28/month - $16,575.08/month
