Description

The Engineering Specialist IV role optimizes efficiencies in business objectives by planning, developing, and designing engineering and operational plans for the district.

Essential Functions

  • Conducting facility visits and leveraging operational knowledge to identify inefficiencies and provide solutions for improvements.
  • Advises, plans, develops, and designs district engineering and operational plans to enhance operational efficiency
  • Collaborates with managers to monitor adherence to plans, identify root causes of deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Acts as a change agent to influence management decisions and ensure alignment of engineering and operational plans.
  • Identifies facility inefficiencies through root cause analysis and on-site observations.
  • Provides solutions and on-site assistance for operational improvements.
  • Advises and facilitates team knowledge of dock operational systems, identifying and resolving corrective actions.
  • Creates network alignment plans to optimize facility utilization.
  • Determines capacity planning strategies to ensure full use of facilities.
  • Prepares volume projections for short-term, future, and long-range planning.
  • Oversees district changes, including spin-offs, expansions, and relocations.
  • Forecasts labor and project manning needs for current and future operations.
  • Evaluates hub and linehaul cut times to ensure they meet requirements.
  • Develops labor standards to minimize labor hours as needed.
  • Produces monthly operational plans to determine required resources, with a focus on peak planning.
  • Sets goals and budgets for productivity, service, and cost to drive cost savings.
  • Provides material handling project recommendations, including financial analysis, to justify facility expansions.
  • Constructs contingency plans for potential abnormal events.
  • Serves as a subject-matter expert on operational, system, and technology processes and upgrades.
  • Identifies gaps in adherence to SQI metrics related to scanning, pickup, delivery, loss, and damage.
  • Trains management on operational processes and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelors degree in transportation, logistics, science, technology, engineering, or math.

Minimum Experience

No (0) Industrial Engineering Experience with relevant degree, OR One (1) year Experience in the transportation industry in a relevant operations management role (Area/Sort/P&D Manager), OR Four (4) years Industrial Engineering experience in any field.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: $4,324.00/month - $9,081.99/month
