Field Engineer
The Field Engineer provides engineering plans, in-depth analyses, tools, and improvements to field operations. This role leads departmental and cross-functional projects by identifying and implementing process enhancements, supporting operational goals, and mentoring junior engineers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze performance data and document existing processes to identify improvement opportunities.
- Independently research and analyze technical and engineering information.
- Present improvement recommendations and cost justification analyses to management.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with budget guidelines.
- Formulate and present research findings, progress updates, and results documentation.
- Interact with team members, customers, and senior management to support project execution.
- Apply project management fundamentals and publish progress reports, meeting minutes, memos, and presentations.
- Mentor and develop critical skill sets in junior engineers.
- Develop and update engineering plans based on forecasted volume, contingency plans, and historical data.
- Conduct root cause analysis and develop customized reports for continuous improvement.
- Prepare independent cost-benefit analyses for technology improvements and equipment purchases.
- Observe operations and recommend productivity and damage reduction strategies.
- Train managers on engineering principles, methods, and procedures.
- Perform cost reduction analyses using sound engineering principles.
- Monitor staffing plans and adjust engineering strategies to meet productivity goals.
- Implement, train, and monitor new corporate program rollouts independently.
- Lead operations and corporate engineering department projects.
- Participate in cross-functional Quality Driven Management (QDM) projects.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4+ years of relevant experience.
- In lieu of degree, high school diploma or GED and 6+ years of relevant experience.
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent communication and presentation skills across all organizational levels.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and related systems.
- Experience in industrial or warehouse operations with proven process improvement results.
- Effective teamwork and problem-solving skills with both wage employees and upper management.
