Job Profile Summary: Provides production support expertise. Designs, codes, tests and deploys software in all layers of the development life cycle. Provides the necessary documentation of production systems. Works with databases, APIs, servers, networks, and various programming languages.


Job Description

Essential Functions

· Develop software code using multiple programming languages, including Java/Spring Framework and deployment on FedEx cloud platforms, including Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)

· Work with microservices leveraging Spring Boot, REST APIs, and cloud-native design patterns.

· Lead/assist in cloud application deployment, deployment validation, and post-release stabilization.

· Lead L2/L3 support teams for Tier 1,2 FedEx dispatch applications, including incident management and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for Dispatch Systems Manager (DSM), Dispatch Workstation (DWS) tools.

· Ensures new code/features alignment with FedEx best practices for Rely Engineering, including observability, monitoring, and resilience.

· Documents production environments and keeps documentation current with new business value delivery.

· Leads team to keep current Knowledge base articles for prod incidents, including remediation steps.

· Maintenance of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) plans

· Provide support expertise for major Network 2.0 initiatives, including Global Pickup and Delivery Ecosystem (GPDE) and FedEx Route Optimization (FRO)

· Mentors those in less senior positions

  • · Track and report on metrics for production incident resolution, with a focus on improving operational reliability and performance of dispatch systems.


Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, engineering, or information systems and/or equivalent.

Minimum Experience

Four (4) years qualifying work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Collaboration with other technical leaders (Cloud engineering, Infrastructure Rely, QA and business partners) to troubleshoot and resolve issues between multiple systems.

Experience providing production support for FedEx Dispatch applications, including User Interface (UI) dispatch applications, and back-end REST-ful APIs.

Experience with industry standard observability tools, including AppD, Splunk, Dynatrace.

Ability to lead production triage calls with IT Command Center and IT and business stakeholders.

Knowledge of troubleshooting/analysis of Oracle database applications/APIs

Knowledge of Java Messaging System (JMS) implementations, including producers/consumers, queues, topics, and JMS bridges. Ability to diagnose and remediate JMS issues.

Knowledge of FedEx systems for ticket/incident management (ServiceNow), Safe/Agile development (Agility/VersionOne), and defect tracking (Octane/ALM).

Ability to develop and maintain production dashboards for monitoring, alerting unhealthy processes/systems.

Coach support teams to develop best practices, meeting Mean-time-to-Awareness (MTTA), and Mean-time-to-Remediation (MTTR) for FedEx dispatch applications.

Experience with performance testing tools and techniques.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. Pay: US pay range: $8,007.29 - $18,149.85 monthly
