The UVSDK team plays a critical role in Enterprise Strategic Initiatives, providing a common software component for shipment creation, service validation, barcode generation, and scanning. This technology is embedded in FedEx’s customer automation devices, Express/Ground/TNT scanning and sorting systems, and Pickup & Delivery solutions, with global updates deployed on a regular cadence.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Software Developer to join our team. This role involves guiding new initiatives from concept to deployment, solving complex operational and marketing challenges, and troubleshooting cross-application development and production issues. You will work on solutions that directly impact FedEx’s global operations, ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and enhance UVSDK software solutions supporting FedEx’s automation and logistics systems.
• Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Debug and troubleshoot multi-system integration issues, ensuring seamless cross-application functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across operations, marketing, and IT to optimize system performance.
• Maintain and enhance existing C/C++ and Python applications in a Linux environment, with some development in Java/Spring framework.
• Ensure compliance with FedEx’s technical standards and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong problem analysis, debugging, and solution design skills.
• Experience with complex system architectures, including data compression and compiler/assembler design for virtual machine environments.
• Ability to quickly learn and apply business rules while considering end-user impacts and downstream system dependencies.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python in a Linux environment; familiarity with Java/Spring framework is a plus.
• Experience with microcontroller programming is beneficial but not required.

Domicile

This role will be Hybrid in the Memphis office only, following a hybrid schedule of two to three days in the office per week. This setup aligns with our flexible work approach while fostering in-person collaboration at our Memphis location.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.

Minimum Experience

Three years of qualifying work experience in information technology or an engineering environment.
