We are looking for an INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER - AIR NETWORK DESIGN  (Mid to Senior profile depending on experience) to join the FedEx European Planning/Engineering organization within our Strategic Air Network Planning and Engineering team with a focus on mid-long term planning. 

 

The Air Network Planning & Engineering team is responsible for designing and continuously improving a network of flights, operating over 1,000 take-offs weekly to deliver hundreds of thousands of packages across Europe. This includes the setup of integrated cross-functional processes, the enhancement of tools for capacity planning, reporting and network design and the coordination of business cases to optimize the air network.

What you will be doing:

  • Act as a technical expert on complex and specialist network subject(s). 

  • Source data and information from several sources, including internal databases, or subject matter experts as required. 

  • Evaluate air network capacity requirements to support volume evolution 

  • Develop or enhance engineering tools, models and new reports from various databases to analyze flows and air network performance 

  • Develop advanced capabilities and tools to continuously identify opportunities, optimize business performance and reduce cost to serve. 

  • Recommend, lead and execute business analysis for new and existing projects which may be cross functional and cross regional. 

  • Proactively identify and analyze risks, opportunities and constraints within area of expertise.  

  • Provide network analytics for (and lead) projects regarding current and future European or intercontinental air network 

  • Support management with the analysis, interpretation and application of complex information, contributing to the achievement of divisional and corporate goals.  

  • Collaborate cross functionally and cross regionally to enhance and drive value with key functional partners through the delivery of holistic solutions which support key business decisions 


What do you bring with you:

  • University degree, preferably in Engineering or relevant scientific disciplines 

  • Experience with planning and optimizing processes (logistics or manufacturing) 

  • Very good analytical planning & organizing skills 

  • Very flexible and adaptable to changing environments 

  • Strong data management. Data querying and automation through SQL, Python or other programming languages, or eagerness to learn. 

  • Business acumen & innovative mindset 

  • Strong team spirit 

  • Accuracy & attention to detail 

  • Presentation skills 

  • Excellent knowledge of English is a must (working language) 

  • Analytical thinker with a creative and pragmatic approach to problem solving 

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively throughout various functional groups and hierarchical levels 

  • Proficient use of Office applications: Word, Excel & PowerPoint
