INT050: Sr Scrum Master II
Description
• General Summary
The Scrum Master will be responsible for understanding the big development picture of each sprint. They are responsible for delegating tasks appropriately and ensuring the team is working on the right tasks at the right time. They also want to ensure the team is fully deployed and not idle. A Scrum Master helps the team to become self-organizing and empowered to create, innovate, and make decisions for themselves as one team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support scrum team through the complete software development life-cycle using the Scaled Agile Methodology and Scrum or Kanban approaches.
- Help team members to create effective User Stories, write acceptance criteria to know when a story is Done, and break down stories into sub-tasks.
- Help each team use Epics, Features, time-boxed (spike) stories, and sprint goals effectively.
- Support each Product Owner to refine and prioritize their Backlog and Epics in alignment with business goals.
- Schedule/facilitate Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Daily Scrum, and Sprint Retrospective meetings.
- Ensure that the highest priority items identified in the Sprint Retrospective are appropriately addressed.
- Work with the teams and business to remove impediments and blockers.
- Encourage radical transparency. Foster ever-improving intra- and inter-team dynamics.
- Use agile metrics judiciously. Encourage team excellence.
- Maintain an open dialog with the Product Owners and team members through recurring one-on-one meetings to coach and mentor entire team.
- Work closely with other Scrum Masters. Program team and Release train Engineer.
- Plan and prepare team for PI planning.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or MIS with 8-10yrs of work experience.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Proven coaching and mentoring abilities
- Agile/Scrum, Agile/Kanban experience
- Agile planning, ceremonies, roles experience
- Good conflict resolution
- Continuous improvement approach
- Demonstrable emotional intelligence
- Proven problem solving skills

- Strong facilitator
Good To Have
- Certifications such as CSM, PMI-ACP, PMP a plus
- Project management experience with demonstrated scrum master experience
- Perform the role of Scrum Master for one or more teams Leading multiple, simultaneous initiatives or small programs / release trains
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience and systems development environment experience
- Reflecting Agile/Scrum values to the team as a servant leader
- Strong mediation and negotiation skills
- Support and educate Product Owners, especially in regard to developing, refining and managing the product backlog
- Ability to communicate and work well with team co-located across the globe
- Guide and coach teams to be self-organizing
- Creates and maintains process documentation
- Foster an environment of high communication, collaboration and accountability
- Excellent organizational skills with a willingness to adapt to different tools or processes as the situation requires, and to suggest improvements or alternatives when warranted
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail
