We are looking for a sharp lawyer and a team player who can deal with varied and challenging needs across our AMEA region. Working in a dynamic and fast paced environment, the ideal candidate needs to be a self-starter, role model to guide, support and mentor junior team members, be solutions oriented, agile and adaptable to changing work scopes and projects, which may include some or all of the following from time to time:
What you will be responsible for:
· Contracts Negotiations and Review: Drive and support the framework and vision for the legal shared service center, including process implementation, contract template development and maintenance; draft, review and negotiate a variety of contracts including procurement of goods and services and sales contracts with customers; monitoring corporate compliance with contract and signatory policies and procedures. Assist to develop and update standard documentation including assimilation of regional and local legal requirements in order to protect FedEx interests on contractual commitments, balance and optimize risks, gain greater commercial benefits and ensure FedEx is protected legally.
· Cargo Claims: Advise on the initiation, defense and settlement of cargo claims, demands and disputes throughout the region; monitor compliance with claims policy in order to limit FedEx payouts to legitimate and enforceable claims and ensure FedEx’ rights are protected.
· Corporate Governance Issues: Assist in matters of corporate governance; supervise and ensure proper filing of corporate records, reports and other legal record-keeping; be responsible for learning and adopting FedEx policy and procedure with respect to contract initiation and execution.
· Legal Operations: Develop and maintain digital tools to streamline and automate the workflows used by AMEA Legal department.
You will be a great fit if you have:
· Law degree from an accredited university (LLB / Bachelor of Laws)
· Admitted to practice in Malaysia or other common law jurisdiction.
· At least two (2) to eight (8) years of experience and demonstrated competence in private practice or in-house.
· Excellent drafting and succinct email writing skills.
· Strong negotiation, interpersonal and communications skills.
· Positive outlook and growth mindset.
· Team player, able to think and perform creatively, critically and with integrity.
· Open to experiment new approaches and learn technology enablement such as automation by Microsoft SharePoint, Power Automate, Power BI.
· Chinese language capability is plus.
