Looking for a challenging,  hands-on role, working in a diverse, international environment?

We are currently looking for a Road Network Control specialist (location Duiven -NL)

The NOC Road department

The Network Operations Center (NOC) Road provides centralized management of the FedEx road network in Europe in case of disruptions in its’ sort facilities (hubs) or during transport. We ensure that all shipments arrive at their destination on time by almost literally removing blockades. In the NOC department we analyze, monitor and intervene in the network where necessary and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, we are in close contact with the sort centers and in case the sorting process stops we provide support to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. The NOC Road is the 'single point of contact' for all parties and provides support in case of disruptions. In fact, NOC Road is always involved when the on-time delivery of the package is at risk.

Description of the role

Your challenge is to capture operational disruptions and organize corrective actions which you will monitor in terms of progress. As such you will communicate with the various depots/Hubs and other departments within FedEx for example  Fleet, IT support, Security and Health & Safety. Thus to ensure that the mitigation actions pay-off and a solid service level is maintained.

As a NOC Specialist you analyze and monitor the on-time flow through the entire road network; this means: You will respond in case the sort at our hubs is at risk. For example, if the sorting machine stops or the IT-systems break down, you provide support and will activate technical support.

  • You will monitor the progress of disruptions. If it takes too long, you will initiate actions in order for the goods to be transported and sorted elsewhere.
  • You keep an overview of the European Road Network and assess when you need to intervene. For example in case of accidents, congestion or vehicle break-downs.

There is a huge opportunity to shape the way of working and introduce new methods and procedures together with your colleagues. Our philosophy is that you yourself should define the baseline of your own work. This means that you be will actively engaged in exploring whether current, new processes and working methods can be created or adapted with a 'Lean' mindset. FedEx has adopted a TQM method called Quality Driven Management and this is used as a basis to ensure the 'Purple promise'.

Preferred experience/knowledge

  • A minimum of advanced secondary vocational, preferred higher professional education;
  • Affinity with or work experience in a logistics and/or transport environment;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • You master the English language in word and writing, Dutch would be a plus;
  • You are willing to work in alternating shifts, at irregular times (day, evening, night incl. weekends);
  • You are self-starting in a dynamic environment where it’s all or nothing;
  • You are stress resistant and can therefore tackle ad-hoc matters in addition to your planned activities;
  • You have perseverance and a strongly developed sense of responsibility, in which you enjoy working with your colleagues.

What we offer

  • A starting salary between €3,200 and €4,400 gross per month depending on knowledge and experience
  • A unique and challenging position with development opportunities;
