To provide legal counsel and advice to the Company and its subsidiaries in LAC to ensure their effective operation in accordance with local and foreign laws

Job Description:
Provides legal counsel, advice review, and direction on an assigned basis to various departments and members of management on all levels, including Senior Management. Acts as primary legal department contact for outside attorney communications on assigned region/projects/issues. Advises members of the legal department with respect to area of expertise. Assists legal management in the selection, training, and development of a staff of attorneys and support personnel. Monitors and interprets changes to and trends in government and legislative policies at the country, state, local, or international level. Determines impact on company, advises Senior Management, and recommends and implements specific company responses. Participates in the planning phase of various company products, services, and projects regarding legal and regulatory concerns. Manages the work of outside counsel in litigation matters and may act as co-counsel in significant litigation on behalf of the company. Decides the appropriateness of either litigating or settling legal issues confronting the company and recommends action to management and personnel. Performs complex research on legal issues to maintain compliance with various regulations; provides legal interpretation of laws and regulations; and drafts and reviews legal documents and contracts and reviews proposed transactions. Negotiates the settlement of claims and suits against the company and work with other division personnel and outside counsel in the defense of claims and suits. Essential responsibilities are those most important or most frequently performed duties.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Education:

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admissions to the bar. Superior academic record.

Minimum Experience:
Three (3) years' experience in law firm and/or multinational corporation and demonstrated competence as a practicing attorney in corporate law, contracts, and transportation or cross-border transactions. Experience in regulatory, finance, and international law strongly preferred.

Minimum Skills:
Excellent research and writing skills. Strong negotiation, human relations, and communications skills. Fluent in English.


  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing contracts throughout their lifecycle, including tracking deadlines, renewals, redlining, proofreading, and ensuring proper execution and filing.
  • Revising, and maintaining various legal documents such as contracts, templates, waivers, releases, memos, reports, and correspondence.
  • Conducting research on statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources to support attorneys.
  • Assisting with compliance efforts related to privacy, data protection, security, anti-money laundering, anticorruption, and other regulatory matters.
  • Supporting transactional due diligence and litigation management, including document collection, court docket searches, and discovery processes.
  • Developing and managing project schedules, dashboards, and work plans, and providing updates on projects and programs.
  • Coordinating requests and communications with external legal counsel and service providers and acting as a liaison between the legal team and other departments.
  • Compiling and analyzing data, reviewing legal documents, and ensuring attention to detail and timelines
  • Assisting with special projects and performing other duties as assigned.

 

  • Qualifications:
  • Lawyer degree from an accredited institution and 3 or more years of related experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, PDF creation tools, and document management software.
  • ABA Accredited Institution Legal Diploma, Foreign Legal Consultant or Inhouse Counsel Certifications will be considered.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English and Spanish, being fully bilingual.
  • French/Portuguese or Dutch language skills, while not required, is a plus. 
  • Florida Notary certification in good standing, while not required, is a plus.
