Maintenance Specialist III
Description
Works on and develops cross functional teams to find ways of improving efficiency and increasing cost efficiency. Provides oversight of Vehicle Maintenance vendors and acts as a liaison between third party maintenance vendors and the maintenance department at FedEx. Reviews potential warranty claims and develops automated solutions for warranty claim submissions.
Essential Functions
Gathers data and business objectives from various departments to create ad hoc and standard reports for analysis.
Writes queries to collect data from the maintenance management system to analyze repairs to determine trends.
Audits repair orders and other related data from maintenance management system to ensure accuracy of repair charges and monitors charges above an established limit.
Supports field employees by answering procedural vehicle maintenance questions pertaining to costs. Provides training and field, loss, and damage team.
Works with FleetNet America to coordinate the recovery of assets
Generates monthly district and region cost analysis reports for distribution to various parties, and similar reports as needed.
Performs cost analysis of whether it is more effective to repair or dispose of damaged equipment.
Monitors the proper disposal of assets and spare equipment.
Creates, revises and delivers training to FedEx maintenance and field personnel on tire maintenance and scrap analysis, purchase programs and warranties.
Develops, maintains and distributes warranty procedures
Reviews potential warranty claims, processes valid warranty claims through original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) and develops automated solutions for warranty claim submission.
Creates and distributes procedures for the management of campaigns to ensure issues are handled in a timely manner and FedEx is able to recoup related expenses. Facilitates campaign completion in the field.
Compiles company-owned equipment count data from various departments for approval in capital and long-range outlook budgets, and compiles data for P&D and Linehaul maintenance budgets.
Works with financial planning on asset replacement programs.
Collaborates and participates in cross functional projects involving vehicle maintenance and developing ways to improve efficiency.
Supports special projects, participates in Department of Transportation (DOT) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other sustainability initiatives
Maintains and revises vehicle maintenance FedEx policies and procedures.
Understands and is familiar with DOT rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics or related field required; in addition to
Minimum Experience
, high school diploma or GED and four (4) years experience in Maintenance, Logistics, or related area is accepted in lieu of degree.
Minimum Experience
Six (6) years Vehicle Maintenance experience or related area required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance equipment, budget costs as related to vehicle maintenance, and related terminology.
Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications, including fleet maintenance/management software.
Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information.
Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve goals.
Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
Ability to develop effective methods for tracking and monitoring data or information.
Job Conditions
Some travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications: Fleet management/maintenance experience preferred. Strong systems experience - design and outline, agile experience preferred
Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law.
