Manager, Inventory Control
The Manager, Inventory Control is responsible for overseeing inventory operations in a high-volume, SKU-intensive facility. This role ensures the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and receiving reports, while maintaining product safety, quality, and legality. The manager gathers and analyzes operational data to support inventory accuracy and customer requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage at least two full-time direct reports, including hiring, coaching, skill development, recognition, and performance management.
- Plan, organize, staff, direct, and control daily departmental operations; develop and implement policies and programs.
- Develop and manage the department budget; ensure compliance and address variances.
- Prepare and reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and production reports.
- Coordinate and manage monthly/quarterly physical inventories and follow-up reporting.
- Gather and analyze data related to operations, inventory control, and customer requirements.
- Perform internal audits and cycle counts to validate inventory accuracy.
- Foster and reinforce the company’s employee culture within the facility.
- Facilitate regular safety meetings and maintain a safe work environment.
- Monitor compliance with the company’s SOAR Program.
- Support Operations and Facility Managers on special projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field preferred, with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- In lieu of degree, high school diploma or GED with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Department-level span of control or higher.
- 3–5 years of management/supervisory experience.
- 3–5 years of inventory control or stock accounting experience in a warehouse/distribution environment strongly preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with WMS systems, especially SAP-based or Manhattan platforms, strongly preferred.
- Radio Frequency (RF) technology experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong organizational, analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Systems experience with Oracle preferred.
- Ability to plan for business fluctuations and analyze forecasts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with customers and employees.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and email platforms.
