Manager, Maintenance
The Manager, Maintenance is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the facilities maintenance department. This role ensures the integrity of production equipment and building infrastructure, enabling high-level operational performance and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage at least two full-time direct reports, including hiring, coaching, skills development, recognition, and performance management.
- Plan, organize, staff, and direct daily departmental operations; develop and implement policies and programs.
- Develop and manage departmental budget; ensure compliance and address variances.
- Provide expertise in one or more of the following areas: Construction, Electrical, Mechanical, Networking, HVAC, Facility Maintenance, Engineering Installation, Software and PLC controls, Core Audit.
- Oversee prioritization of work orders and assess impact on overall operations.
- Utilize software and resources to ensure efficient workflow and task management.
- Ensure safety procedures are followed to maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Technicians to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Partner with senior managers to recommend and implement optimal solutions.
- Assist in training and cross-training of maintenance team members in various trades.
- Support engineers with facility layout and production processes focused on safety, quality, productivity, cost savings, and waste reduction.
- Quote and lead contractor efforts for equipment installation or repair.
- Contribute to the design and support of engineering projects.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, with 8 years of relevant experience.
- In lieu of degree, high school diploma or GED with 10 years of relevant experience.
- Department-level span of control required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building and equipment maintenance.
- Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of plumbing, forklift repair, electrical systems, and related trades strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and team collaboration abilities.
