Description

The Director Strategy Planning and Analysis for the Data and Technology Strategic Management Office is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the enterprise-wide digital transformation and technology modernization strategy. This individual will lead the Strategic Management Office (SMO) within the Data & Technology (D&T) organization, driving the definition, integration, and delivery of FedEx’s most critical transformation initiatives. This role requires a visionary leader who can build and manage a high-performing organization, establish robust governance frameworks, and serve as a trusted advisor to D&T executives and senior business partners. The Director is accountable for ensuring the portfolio of transformation programs aligns with the future-state architecture, delivers measurable business value, and positions FedEx for future success.

Essential Functions 

Strategic Leadership and Organizational Development 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing organization of program management professionals, including managers and senior staff. 

  • Define the vision, strategy, and operational model for the Strategic Management Office (SMO). 

  • Champion a culture of strategic thinking, accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement. 

  • Oversee organizational design, resource planning, and budget management for the SMO. 

Enterprise Program Portfolio and Roadmap Ownership 

  • Own the definition and development of the enterprise technology roadmap in partnership with D&T VPs and Enterprise Architecture. 

  • Ensure the portfolio of digital transformation and technology modernization programs is strategically aligned, scoped, and sequenced to maximize business value and ROI. 

  • Drive alignment between business strategy and technology execution, ensuring all major initiatives support enterprise goals. 

Governance, Execution, and Value Realization 

  • Design and implement enterprise-level governance structures and decision-making processes to ensure effective oversight and execution of the transformation portfolio. 

  • Provide ultimate oversight for the execution of complex, cross-functional programs, holding teams accountable for managing risks, dependencies, and outcomes. 

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and value realization metrics for the entire portfolio, ensuring programs deliver on their promised benefits. 

Executive Advisement and Stakeholder Management 

  • Serve as a key advisor to senior executive leadership (VPs, SVPs) on the health, progress, and strategic alignment of the transformation portfolio. 

  • Develop and deliver compelling, high-impact communications and recommendations to the highest levels of the organization. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior business and technology leaders to drive consensus, navigate complex organizational dynamics, and ensure seamless collaboration. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of experience leading large-scale, complex transformational programs, portfolios, or enterprise change initiatives in a technical environment. 

  • Proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams in a matrixed, enterprise environment. 

  • Demonstrated experience shaping strategy and influencing outcomes at the senior leadership level. 

  • Master's Degree (MBA, MS) strongly preferred. 

  • Deep expertise in technology strategy, enterprise architecture, and modern digital platforms. 

  • Exceptional financial acumen, with direct experience in departmental budgeting, long-range forecasting, and building value-based business cases. 

  • Extensive experience leading enterprise-scale digital transformation or technology modernization programs from strategy to execution. 

  • Mastery of executive-level communication, including storytelling, presentation development, and the ability to distill complex topics into clear, actionable insights. 

  • Proven ability to leverage analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) and AI to drive strategic insights and operational efficiency. 

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PgMP, Scaled Agile) are a plus. 


Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree/equivalent.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Extensive experience in areas including project management, quantitative analysis, forecasting, process improvement, or market/competitive analysis. Management experience, demonstrated leadership ability, strong communications, and human relations skills required.

Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $12,476.52/month - $22,873.62/month; Plano, TX and Pittsburgh, PA Pay Range: $13,862.80/month - $19,061.35/month; Collierville, TN Pay Range : $13,169.66/month - $18,108.28/month
