Description
The Managing Director, Global Healthcare Quality provides strategic and operational leadership for FedEx’s global healthcare quality execution, ensuring consistent excellence across operations, logistics, and compliance functions. This role is accountable for designing and optimizing quality frameworks that meet customer, regulatory, and certification requirements while driving efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement. The position plays a critical part in advancing FedEx’s commitment to healthcare logistics capabilities by driving GDP compliant, risk-based decision making, overseeing cold chain and regulated distribution programs and enabling audit ready operations across regions.
Through disciplined execution, data driven performance management, and close collaboration with global quality leadership and regional leaders, commercial teams, and external partners, this leader advances FedEx’s commitment to patient safety, business continuity, regulatory excellence, and customer trust in highly regulated global healthcare supply chains.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
- Lead global quality operations to ensure alignment with enterprise objectives, regulatory compliance, and customer expectations.
- Direct and refine operational processes across logistics, inventory, and quality functions to improve performance, cost efficiency, and service reliability.
- Oversee Quality Management Systems to ensure compliance with internal policies, client standards, and external regulations.
- Ensure, audit compliance, and certification maintenance (GDP, IATA CEIV, ISO, and equivalent).
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to develop and implement improvement initiatives that enhance quality, scalability, and speed to market.
- Drive the use of analytics and KPIs to monitor operational trends, identify improvement opportunities, and guide decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams with a strong focus on accountability, capability growth, and operational excellence.
- Manage budgets, resources, and capital projects to achieve productivity and quality targets.
- Support enterprise transformation programs and initiatives that strengthen quality operations globally.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline, and 4+ years of progressive leadership experience in Healthcare Quality Management roles.
OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, and 6+ years of proven success leading high-performing teams and driving excellence across multi-site or international networks Within Healthcare Quality Management roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of senior-level leadership experience overseeing quality and compliance within healthcare logistics, pharmaceutical distribution, manufacturing, or healthcare supply chain environment.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale global, regional programs and driving operational transformation.
- Expertise in regulated logistics environments and cold chain quality management systems.
- Recognized ability to deliver measurable performance improvement, innovation, and cost optimization in high-complexity operations.
- Strong executive presence and ability to engage directly with customers, regulatory agencies, and senior leadership.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated success leading complex, global operations across healthcare logistics, supply chain, and quality environments ensuring consistent quality execution across Europe & APAC / Americas.
- Deep expertise in healthcare quality management systems, including the design, implementation, and governance of programs aligned with EU GDP, WHO Guidelines and IATA CEIV, ISO standards, and applicable regional regulatory requirements, ensuring compliant distribution of medicinal products across borders.
- Comprehensive knowledge of EU GDP requirements, APAC regulations (Change this to FDA for Americas), including risk-based approaches, cold chain management, lane qualification, deviation and CAPA management, change control, and oversight of third-party logistics providers, carriers, and subcontractors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; adept at using data and metrics to monitor performance and implement corrective actions.
- Proven ability to strengthen supplier and customer partnerships through transparency, accountability, and performance improvement.
- Effective communicator who fosters collaboration across matrixed teams and builds alignment among stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership presence with a focus on developing talent, building bench strength, and cultivating a culture of integrity and continuous improvement.
