Description

Plans, manages, directs, and controls the administration of the liability claims program, which includes all claims in the following coverage areas: vehicle liability, general liability, recovery subrogation claims, and other third-party tort claims asserted against or by the Company.

Essential Functions

  • Protects the Company by managing a team of claims professionals responsible for mitigating the cost of liability claims and related expenses.
  • Ensures compliance with related laws and administrative rules and regulations in all states in which team is managing claims.
  • Management responsibilities include the following: hiring, terminations, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, performance management and staff productivity.
  • Evaluates and approves claim settlements and claim file reserves up to authorized levels; submits reserve and authority requests with recommendations to the appropriate level of authority.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or related field.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years related experience with bodily injury liability and property damage liability claims and litigation of significant exposure and complexity involving serious injuries on a regional or national level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of Liability Claims. Ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations, determine appropriate courses of action, present solutions, and resolve claims within multi-million-dollar retentions. Excellent leadership, management, human relations, oral and written communication, analytical, problem solving, negotiation, vendor selection, contracting, and management, and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications: Certifications: CPCU, AIC, or SCLA; Experience with litigation, mediations, and trials; Proven experience leading claims teams and working with third-party administrators; Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Experience analyzing claims data; Strong organizational skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong leadership and problem-solving skills; Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external partners

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $7,094.23/month - $12,533.14/month Colorado Pay Range: $7,094.23/month - $12,010.93/month New York Pay Range: $7,488.36/month - $12,533.14/month New York City Pay Range: $9,064.85/month - $12,533.14/month
