Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Provide profitable customized shipping solutions for customers with unique or critical shipping needs. Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Revenue Quality, Costing, Transportation and Network Engineering to secure larger LTL shipments and devise innovative solutions to match specialized needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Select, lead, educate and motivate a staff of employees
- Identify new business opportunities and assist Sales in pricing negotiations to secure business
- Equip team to perform key customer service functions for spot quotes and premium services
- Develop and implement necessary reporting tools to direct actions and keep leadership/team informed of performance
- Analyze performance trends, market conditions and operational capabilities to guide pricing decisions to optimize the network
- Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders to run an efficient and effective spot quote and expedited business
- Educate Sales/Operations/Customers on service offerings
- Ensure processes, procedures and systems are documented and followed for consistent delivery of quality service
- Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives and projects to drive cost reductions and internal efficiencies
- Collaborate and network with cross opco colleagues to improve utilization of assets across the Enterprise
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
- Perform other assignments (or duties) as required

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years’ experience in operations, logistics/transportation, or finance
Direct knowledge and understanding of line-haul and hub systems, freight movement, lane movement and operations
Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations, hazardous materials regulations preferred
Excellent analytical, problem solving and fact based, decision making skills
Strong financial analysis skills including forecasting, budgeting and financial modeling preferred
Proven skills in project management and process improvement
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong leadership, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to travel
Must be able to work flexible hours including nights as directed and/or needed
