Description
Provides expertise and actionable guidance to management through the analysis of market and operations data, as well as the potential impacts of changes in the marketplace, demographics or legislation. Provides information and presents high-level analysis to guide business decisions. Develops strong working relationships with internal customers and works closely with them to understand and anticipate service capacity needs and opportunities
Essential Functions
- Leads strategic research projects, running advanced (e.g., modeling, multivariate) analytics and providing predictive decision metrics to business leaders. Partners with leaders to identify research questions, determine key metrics, and interpret results.
- Uses engineering methodologies to determine station and hub strengths and strategic opportunities in collaboration with internal clients.
- Assists in the identification of solutions and approaches to close or mitigate significant talent gaps and leads the design of measurement methods to monitor progress.
- Manages investigations into multiple streams of data to solve complex business problems, developing research/project plans, providing insights and recommendations to facilitate decision-making, and developing and presenting results summaries.
- Designs and implements reporting dashboards utilizing established data warehouse structures that track and visually communicate key business metrics and provide actionable insights.
- Determines, develops and tracks metrics based on demographics, the marketplace, legislation and other factors that impact the business and provides insight as to how the marketplace is changing.
- Ensures that appropriate analyses, trend highlights, and recommendations are provided and reviewed with management on a regular basis. Provides business impact studies on all major initiatives and proposals ensuring focus on business impact.
- Establishes basic problem definitions and alternatives for each project which includes risk/benefit analysis
- Creates and manages predictive models (e.g. terminations, disqualifications, at-risk, capacity needs) and integrates workforce model output into production reporting and developing metrics to assess their effectiveness
- Plays a lead role in engineering processes and technology system integration.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field; engineering, computer science, operations research or related discipline, required.
Minimum Experience
Six (6) years experience required in an analytical field including experience in predictive modeling/forecasting, statistical methods, business consulting, project management, audit or operational analysis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
Working knowledge of advanced spreadsheet applications, database concepts and applications, and predictive modeling/forecasting techniques and scripting languages such as SAS, Python or Ruby.
Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs.
Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.
Strong presentation skills necessary to present information to management, end users, co-workers or vendors.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of concepts and practices related to external factors influencing human capital; the business drivers and metrics, and proactively translating the strategic needs into specific strategies and requirements.
Strategic thinker with ability to mentor, coach and act as a knowledge resource to other employees.
Demonstrated skills working with SQL (Structured Query Language).
Experience with data modeling, ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) concepts, query performance tuning and testing.
Experience with large datasets, Map-Reduce architecture frameworks such as Pig and Scalding, statistical software.
Experience with visualization tools.
Knowledge with object-oriented languages.
Job Conditions
Some travel required.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. Additional Details: This position is preferred to be domiciled in Pittsburgh, PA but remote locations can be considered.
